Take Your Diving Beyond Open Water

Advanced SCUBA Diver training builds experience through a variety of open-water dives under the supervision of an Instructor. You'll expand your skills, experience new types of diving, and become a more capable and confident recreational diver.

Six dives. More experience. More possibilities. Rather than focusing on a single specialty, Advanced SCUBA Diver introduces you to several different diving activities while developing stronger dive planning, awareness, and in-water skills.

Course Information

What You'll Experience

Advanced SCUBA Diver training includes a minimum of six open-water dives designed to broaden your experience beyond entry-level diving.

Three areas form the core of the program:

  • Underwater navigation
  • Night or low-visibility diving
  • Deep diving

Three additional dives are selected from available training options, allowing you to experience other diving activities and develop skills based on the course and conditions.

Skills You'll Develop

Each dive introduces new challenges while reinforcing the fundamental skills you developed during your Open Water training.

  • Planning and executing recreational dives
  • Improved underwater navigation
  • Managing limited-visibility and night-diving conditions
  • Planning and conducting deeper dives
  • Monitoring depth, time, and gas supply
  • Improved situational awareness and decision-making
  • Greater comfort in a variety of diving environments
Deep Diving During the Course

Advanced training introduces you to diving beyond the depth range normally experienced during entry-level Open Water training.

Deep dives are planned and conducted under Instructor supervision within the limits appropriate for the course and conditions, with a maximum training depth of 130 feet.

How the Course Works

Training begins with eLearning followed by instructor-led briefings and open-water training.

You'll complete six open-water dives while applying the concepts covered in your academics and briefings. The exact combination of additional training dives may vary based on the course, conditions, and available training opportunities.
