In-Water Training
Advanced Nitrox includes open-water training designed to develop the precision and control expected in technical-diving environments.
Training emphasizes stable buoyancy and trim, team awareness, gas-sharing procedures, controlled problem management, and the ability to maintain position while completing required skills.
Gas and Equipment Considerations
Using higher-oxygen breathing gases introduces equipment, analysis, labeling, and oxygen-exposure considerations beyond those encountered in recreational nitrox diving.
The course develops your understanding of these considerations and teaches the procedures needed to properly evaluate and manage the gases used during your training.
How the Course Works
Training includes TDI eLearning, instructor-led academic review, dive planning, and open-water training.

How is Advanced Nitrox different from recreational Nitrox?
Recreational Nitrox training focuses primarily on enriched-air mixtures commonly used for recreational diving. Advanced Nitrox expands into higher-oxygen mixtures and introduces the additional planning, equipment, team, and in-water skills associated with technical diving.
Does this course include staged decompression diving?
No. Advanced Nitrox by itself is conducted within dives that do not require planned staged decompression. Divers who want to conduct planned decompression dives should complete the appropriate Decompression Procedures training.
Can I take Advanced Nitrox with Decompression Procedures?
Yes. Advanced Nitrox and Decompression Procedures are commonly combined and together form an important foundation for additional technical-diving training.
How much diving experience do I need?
You must already hold a Nitrox Diver certification or accepted equivalent and provide proof of at least 25 logged open-water dives.
