From city streets to the Izu coast
Shimoda Tokyu Hotel · Shimoda
A private tour bus takes the group to Shimoda, approximately four to five hours south. Divers head to Mikomoto Island for guided drift dives in waters known for schooling hammerheads and other pelagic life.
Four boat-based drift dives are included. Wildlife sightings depend on conditions.
Dive sites and daily schedules depend on local conditions and the dive operator.

A GREAT TRIP STARTS WITH A LITTLE PLANNING
Before you go.
- Dive experience
- Intermediate · minimum 50 logged dives
- Typical water temperature
- Approximately 75°F
- The dive operator requires at least 50 logged dives by the time of the trip.
- Divers aged 60–69 must provide physician approval. The operator does not permit divers aged 70 or older to dive.
- Mikomoto involves boat-based drift diving. Discuss your experience and suitability with the trip leader before reserving.
- Dive Accident Insurance: Dive accident insurance is required. You may use DAN or another provider. DAN membership is not required by Underwater World.
